Junk to Joy – Zine Workshop : Sunday 12 October, 2-4pm
How do we build something beautiful, useful, and radical, out of what others might throw away? Inspired by How To Build a Library (2025, dir. Maia Lekow & Christopher King), we will be hosting a FREE sustainable zine-making workshop as part of Take One Action's film festival, which invites you to dig into the possibilities of scrap, story, and solidarity.
The film follows two Kenyan women as they transform a forgotten, junk-filled library in Nairobi into a vibrant hub for citizens. In the same creative spirit, we’ll use exclusively repurposed materials to collage zines that reflect our hopes for a better world.
You do not need to have seen the film to participate. This event is open to all experience levels, and all materials will be provided. Let’s imagine a real utopia – one page at a time!
